FFLiveWire Exclusive Interview with Nile Legania

Wayne State cornerback Nile Legania took the time to answer some questions with FFLiveWire's Luke Nicholson about his college career, preperation for his Pro Day, and his abilities as a return man.

 

 

Luke Nicholson: Who is your biggest role model? Why?


Nile Legania: My biggest role model is my Mother. Because as I single mother, she worked numerous of job to make sure I didn’t want for anything and she is my BIGGEST supporter.


Luke Nicholson: What is your greatest football moment to date?


Nile Legania: I would have to say, the Semi-Final of my junior year in high school, Tuerling Catholic was in the red zone and I intercepted a pass in corner of the in-zone to seal the victory.


Luke Nicholson: Is there a situation in your past where you overcame adversity? How did you do it and how has it made you a better person?


Nile Legania: Yes, when I puncture my lung my sophomore year in college. I could have just gave up and been out for the season, but instead I was only out for one game. Since then I realize that any given moment can be your last so always give a 100% on and off the field.



Luke Nicholson: During your career at Wayne State, what did your typical day during football season consist of?


Nile Legania: A typical day for me at Wayne was online classes, 1:00 meeting and 4:15 practice.


Luke Nicholson: What sports did you participate in during high school and how have they helped you to become a better player on the football field?


Nile Legania: Along with football, I also did track and field. It gives you that explosion to change gears on the football field.


Luke Nicholson: What led to your decision to transfer from Delta State to Wayne State before the 2007 season?


Nile Legania: It was just time for a new beginning.


Luke Nicholson: Who is the best player you have faced during your career?


Nile Legania: I would have to say Chris Henry (Bengals).


Luke Nicholson: If you could have any super power, what would you choose? Why?


Nile Legania: I want be a young Flash, because in a blink of an eye you can miss me.


Luke Nicholson: What one thing do you have to work on the most to make the transition from a Division II school to the NFL level?


Nile Legania: Be move physical.


Luke Nicholson: What current NFL player does your game most resemble?


Nile Legania: Asante Samuel


Luke Nicholson: What do you think your speed rating for Madden 09 should be?


Nile Legania: A 96.


Luke Nicholson: What are you doing to prepare for your Pro Day?


Nile Legania: In Atlanta, training at Game Time Results with Eric Lougas and Kevin Peoples.



Luke Nicholson: Which teams have expressed interest in you at this point?


Nile Legania: The Giants and the Broncos.


Luke Nicholson: Are you a cat or a dog? Why?


Nile Legania: I am a cat because I can get myself out of any situation and I am fast on my feet.



Luke Nicholson: Why should a NFL team select you over other cornerbacks in this draft?


Nile Legania: Because I am not only a cornerback, I am also a return man, so with me it is a double threat.


Luke Nicholson: What are your plans for your career after football?


Nile Legania: To continue to live my life the way God intended and possibly coaching.


Luke Nicholson: If you could intercept any NFL quarterback, who would you choose? Why?


Nile Legania: Peyton Manning, because is very seldom he throws an interception.



Luke Nicholson: Finish the following sentence: Nile Legania is faster than…


Nile Legania: a cheetah.


Luke Nicholson: Are you a better cornerback or kick returner? Do you believe you can excel in both roles at the NFL level?


Nile Legania: I believe I am an athlete who’s trapped inside a cornerback’s body who can also return kicks. Yes, I believe I can excel in both roles at the NFL level, but most teams are looking for an explosive return man and I can provide that.


Luke Nicholson: Which NFL kick returners do you think you could beat out for a job?


Nile Legania: I am not going to call any names, but my advice to them is don’t slip up.
