FFLiveWire Exclusive Interview with Will Clewis

Central Oklahoma inside linebacker Will Clewis took the time to answer some questions with FFLiveWire's Luke Nicholson about being a Division II prospect, his preperation for his Pro Day, and his hobbies.

Luke Nicholson: Who is your biggest role model? Why?

Will Clewis: My biggest role model is my coach Joe Bowden! He is a great leader and has taught me a lot about life and football. I like that he doesn’t just talk about doing things right. He leads by example; I see him doing things right. He is a man of god, a family man and a great coach!

Luke Nicholson: What is your greatest football moment to date?

Will Clewis: I would say my greatest football moment would have to be being chosen as a Division 2 All-American! It was a great feeling!

Luke Nicholson: During your career at Central Oklahoma, what did your typical day during football season consist of?

Will Clewis: My typical day consisted of first going to class early in the morning! I like to take early classes so that I have the rest of the day to focus on football. After class at 11, I would go to the coaches’ office and watch film to get the edge over my opponent and understand what they are doing so I could play faster! Then we had practice from 2-4:30 and I would watch more film after that and then rest up for the next day!

Luke Nicholson: What sports did you participate in during high school and how have they helped you to become a better player on the football field?

Will Clewis: In high school I played football, soccer, and did track and field. Soccer helped my conditioning a lot and allowed me to build up some leg strength that translated to the football field!

Luke Nicholson: What did you gain from your experience at the Cactus Bowl?

Will Clewis: I got a chance to play against the best players in Division 2 football and I also found some things that I need to work on in my game to get better.

Luke Nicholson: Are scouts planning to work you out at fullback, as well as linebacker? How do you feel about the possibility of a position change?

Will Clewis: I haven’t heard anything about them looking at me to play fullback. Although I love linebacker, I would be willing to play whatever it is that they ask me to. I’m willing to play fullback, safety, anything. Lol.

Luke Nicholson: Who is the best player you have faced during your career?

Will Clewis: I think Bernard Scott, running back for Abilene Christian. He showed great patience with the ball and he was very explosive. He is a great running back.

Luke Nicholson: If you could have any super power, what would you choose? Why?

Will Clewis: If I had any super power I would be like Superman and try and save the world and all the bad things that are in it.

Luke Nicholson: What one thing do you have to work on the most to make the transition from a Division II school to the NFL level?

Will Clewis: I think what I need to work on most is my strength and my flexibility. I have been working very hard to get my body stronger and doing a lot of stretching and yoga to become flexible.

Luke Nicholson: What current NFL player does your game most resemble?

Will Clewis: I think my game resembles Ray Lewis! I admire him a lot because not only does he play with passion and emotion, [but] he makes his teammates better by demanding the best from them. And that’s what I try to do with my team.

Luke Nicholson: If someone decided to make a movie about your life, what actor would play you and what would the movie be titled?

Will Clewis: If they made a movie about my life, it would be titled The Underdog! And I would get Denzel Washington to play me!

Luke Nicholson: What are you doing to prepare for your Pro Day?

Will Clewis: I work out 5 days a week for 4-5 hours a day at Velocity Sports Performance. I also do a little extra at 24 Hour Fitness like the yoga classes and aerobics to get rid of some body fat.

Luke Nicholson: Is there a specific team you hope to play for?

Will Clewis: I would hope to play for the Dallas Cowboys because they are my favorite team and there close to home, but I’ll go with whoever picks me up.

Luke Nicholson: Are you a cat or a dog? Why?

Will Clewis: That’s a funny question! I would have to say a dog. I’m a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. and we are also known as Que Dogs so I would have to say I’m a dog.

Luke Nicholson: Outside of football, what are some of your hobbies?

Will Clewis: I like to fish. It’s a very relaxing hobby of mine. Also, I like to golf. I’m not very good, but I’m working on my game.

Luke Nicholson: Why should a NFL team select you over other linebackers in this draft?

Will Clewis: I am a player that is always trying to get better no matter the circumstance. I never get complacent. I play hard on the field every snap and I have a high motor. Also, I have good character which is very important in this day and time.

Luke Nicholson: What is something unique about you that most people don’t know?

Will Clewis: Something unique about me that people don’t know is that I write poetry.

Luke Nicholson: If you could sack any NFL quarterback, who would you choose? Why?

Will Clewis: If I could sack an NFL quarterback, I would want to sack Eli Manning because he led the Giants over the Cowboys in the NFC Divisional game.
